Who are the EIT Alumni?

EIT Alumni stands for a diverse community of change-makers that thrives on innovation and collaboration and pursues alliances for sustainability and impact.

The EIT Alumni community brings together an interdisciplinary and multicultural network of change agents who share a common vision for tackling societal challenges and creating positive impact through innovation and entrepreneurship. The EIT Alumni consists of member graduates of all EIT's Knowledge Innovation Communities (KICs) stemming from the Education, Innovation and Business Creation pillars and programmes. With an embedded sense of belonging, its strengths lie in leveraging a multifaceted network that empowers the next generation of leaders.

EIT Alumni’s vision is to become the leading community of innovators and entrepreneurs for sustainable innovation, who purposefully collaborate to create solutions for global challenges and drive impact at scale at the interface between science, business, and policy.

We aim to provide a powerful multistakeholder platform that inspires and facilitates cross-sectoral, cross-generational collaboration and knowledge transfer to all EIT alumni and connect its members with the global innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

EIT Alumni goals

  1. Advance inclusive, diverse, and progressive agendas for sustainable development in Europe and beyond.

Strategic objectives (2023 – 2025)

  1. EIT Alumni Nodes and Ecosystem Development vertical: Be a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and growing community by building a strong European and global presence and developing the community around digital natives (future talent) and entrepreneurs.
  2. Partnerships and Identity vertical: Be a visible and stakeholders engaging community by tailoring the EIT Alumni brand to internal and external stakeholders to serve the vision and mission of the community.
  3. Engagement and Value Creation vertical: Be an impact-oriented community by pursuing scalable outcomes, providing added-value services and opportunities for the community members.
  4. Financial Sustainability transversal: Be a sustainable community by ensuring that all activities and initiatives within the strategic planning reflect a long-term vision.

EIT Alumni Governing Framework

The EIT Alumni Board is the overarching body of the EIT Alumni and sits at the intersection of all EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs). Led by the EIT Alumni President, the EIT Alumni Board composed of representatives of the eligible individual EIT KICs alumni, external board member(s) and a representative of the EIT, is responsible for the strategic steering and development of the EIT Alumni community and the promotion of an active exchange between its members and their representation in the broader Innovation and Entrepreneurship ecosystem. Whereas the EIT Alumni Board holds an executive role and represents the strategic arm of the community, we rely on our development and implementation activities on the cross-KIC Alumni Consortium and Alumni volunteers, as the EIT Alumni operational arm.

EIT Alumni in numbers

We are a vibrant and inclusive community of changemakers who are committed to creating a sustainable future for all. Here are some of the recent impact numbers that highlight the breadth and diversity of our community:

  1. Community size: Our community is over 10,000 members strong and growing every day.
  2. Geography: We have members from all over Europe and beyond, with a presence in over 30 countries, making an impact on a global scale.
  3. Gender balance: Our community is committed to gender equality, and we have a 50/50 split between male and female members.
  4. Demographics: We have a diverse mix of students, young professionals, entrepreneurs, and founders, with an average age of 32.
  5. Projects per year: Our community initiates and supports dozens of projects every year, ranging from sustainability and social impact initiatives to entrepreneurship and innovation projects. Our flagship activities include the annual EIT Alumni CONNECT event, the annual innovation forum INNOVEIT, BP/AWP 2023 plans, the EIT Alumni Startup Days, and other alumni driven initiatives such as Women@EIT, EIT Alumni Challenges and Hackathons.
